Founded by Jess Hollingdrake in early 2016, Brow Boutique was built on a simple belief: refined work, done properly, in a space that feels personal.

Over the past decade, it has grown into one of South Africa’s leading cosmetic tattoo studios, recognised for its meticulous artistry, considered approach and unwavering professionalism. To date, more than 15 000 clients have entrusted us with their brows, lashes and permanent makeup treatments.

At Brow Boutique, we specialise in enhancing natural beauty rather than masking it. Every treatment is approached with care, precision and an understanding that no two faces are the same. Consultation is never rushed, design is intentional and results are created to age beautifully over time.

Our studio, situated in the vibrant Little Falls suburb of Johannesburg, was intentionally designed to feel calm, welcoming and personal. The space includes a comfortable reception lounge, four fully equipped treatment rooms and a dedicated training academy where we continue to educate and mentor artists within the industry.

Meet The Team
Jess Hollingdrake is the founder of Brow Boutique South Africa and one of the country’s earliest pioneers in microblading.
​
After qualifying with International Masters Training in Microblading, Permanent Makeup, Colour Theory and Tattoo Removal, Jess entered the South African market while the industry was still in its early stages.
​
She holds multiple advanced international qualifications in Permanent Makeup as well as certifications in Dermapigmentation, Advanced Micropigmentation and Scalp Micropigmentation. With a decade of hands-on experience, Jess has become a recognised Master Trainer, known for her disciplined technique, structured education and commitment to raising industry standards.
​
Jess is a member of the international LI Pigments Pro Artist Team and holds international OSHA certification in safe tattoo practices and Blood-borne Pathogens training. She is a full member of PCASA, the Permanent Cosmetic Association of South Africa, and an Affiliate and Corporate Member of the South African Association of Health and Skincare Professionals.

Originally trained in Interior Design through a college in London, Jess combined her understanding of aesthetics with her love of tattoo artistry to build what would become Brow Boutique. Her background in design continues to influence her approach to facial balance, proportion and detail.
​
Outside of the studio, Jess is an avid tattoo collector, lover of art and good food, and unapologetically obsessed with animals. When she’s not with clients or training students, you’ll likely find her baking, sketching or spending time with her partner, family and friends.
Takara Pavão is Brow Boutique’s resident lash extension and brow artist, bringing over five years of industry experience and plenty of personality into the studio.
​
She stepped into the beauty world straight after finishing school and hasn’t slowed down since. Known for her bubbly nature and big energy, Takara brings life into every appointment while still delivering detailed, well-executed work.
​
Behind the laughter is a strong technical foundation. She is passionate about refining her skills, learning new techniques and ensuring her clients leave feeling confident and cared for. Her approach combines precision with personality, tailoring each set of lashes and brows to suit the individual while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable.
​
Takara believes beauty appointments should feel as good as they look. Expect great conversation, plenty of laughs and results that are clean, flattering and wearable.
​
Outside of the studio, she spends time with her dogs and loved ones and is deeply passionate about animal welfare.
Sheldon Smith is a tattoo artist and Scalp Micropigmentation specialist with a deep-rooted passion for artistic expression.
​
Drawn to tattooing from a young age, Sheldon began his professional journey immediately after completing matric, securing a two-year apprenticeship at Winston Ink where he developed the technical discipline and foundation that still define his work today.
​
Seeking broader artistic exposure, he later moved to Johannesburg to immerse himself in a more diverse tattoo community. He went on to work at respected studios including Dakota Lee, SA Hardcore and Tattoo World before establishing his own private studio near the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Ruimsig.
​
Sheldon’s work is heavily influenced by his love for animals and nature, with a particular focus on neotraditional animal and floral pieces. While this remains a signature element of his style, his artistic scope extends beyond a single genre.
​
In 2020, he expanded into paramedical tattooing, training under one of the United Kingdom’s leading Scalp Micropigmentation specialists. His SMP work combines technical precision with aesthetic awareness, offering clients a considered and natural approach to hair restoration.
Claudia Mellett is Brow Boutique’s Front of House and Studio Coordinator.

She manages the day-to-day flow of the studio, ensuring every client experience runs smoothly from the moment you walk through the door. From appointments and enquiries to behind-the-scenes coordination, she keeps everything organised, calm and on track.
​
Soft-spoken and attentive, Claudia brings a steady presence to the studio. Her quiet efficiency and thoughtful approach help create the welcoming, relaxed environment our clients value.
​
As a qualified nail artist, she brings both industry knowledge and a trained eye for precision into her role. She understands that great service lies in the small things, thoughtful communication, organisation and creating an environment where clients feel comfortable from the moment they arrive.

Outside of the studio, Claudia finds balance in nature and enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, Marley.
